Springfield’s bats get job done over Marple Newtown

From the Daily Times posted 7/15/2021

Springfield had the bats working Wednesday night in the Delco League. The pitching was pretty good, too.

Eight players had at least one hit, and Joey Pettinelli and Joe Samohod took care of things on the bump as the Colonials knocked off Marple Newtown, 8-2.

Jimmy Kirk (HR, two runs scored), Cole Palis (two runs scored), Mark Gervasi (RBI) and Luke Piontek (two RBIs smacked two hits each to pace a 13-hit attack. Eric Molinaro chipped in with a two-run double. Pettinelli scattered three hits and fanned nine over five innings to get the win. Samohod closed it out with two hitless innings.

Corey Woodcock (2-for-3, RBI, run scored) and Alex Manzi (RBI) led the way for the Black Sox.
