Newell has big day as Wayne sweeps

Chris Newell had quite a day on Sunday The Malvern Prep product and University of Virginia outfielder drove in a combined eight runs as defending champion Wayne swept a Delco League doubleheader from Aston Valley, 5-2 and 20-0.

Newell went 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBIs in the opener and added three hits and chased home five runs in the nightcap. Ed Paparella was 1-for-2 with two RBIs in Game 1 to stake Ashton Raines to the victory.

Paprella, and Will Peiffer (grand slam) also had three hits as Wayne belted 21 safeties in Game 2. Jimmy Kingsbury got the win.
