Wayne swept last-place Middletown, 8-0 and 6-2, Sunday to clinch the regular- season title. It’s the second straight crown, third in the last five years and 16th since the Delco League changed from two divisions to one league table in 1995.

Cameron Mathes and James Dougherty combined on the three-hit shutout in Game 1, Mathes going five innings for the win. They combined to strike out 10. Ed Paparella had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored for Wayne. Matt Briner added a pair of hits, and Dan Williams drove in two.

A three-run first inning in the nightcap put Wayne ahead for good. Will Peiffer contributed two triples, three this and three RBIs, and Paparella added an RBI and a run scored. Another Mathes, Alden, did the pitching in Game 2, like his older brother striking out seven over four innings.

Dave Dragone had five hits and both RBIs for Middletown. He also tossed five solid innings of relief in Game 2
