Marple Newtown had the chance to pull off the upset of the playoffs.
Wayne reliever Joe Peluso made sure that did not happen.
Peluso needed just 15 pitches to retire five straight hitters to pressure a 6-3 victory over the Black Sox that sent top-seeded Wayne to the Delco League championship series, where it will take on Narberth.
Peluso pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the sixth inning and set the Black Sox down in order in the top of the seventh inning to earn the save and help Wayne win the series, 2-1. Of his 15 pitches, 13 were strikes.
Luke Mutz collected two hits and three RBIs to pace the offense. Will Peiffer pitched in with two hits and one RBI.
Jack O’Reilly slugged a two-run homer and Andrew Turner was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored for the Black Sox.
