With one mighty swing, Ed Paparella made sure Wayne’s season did not come to an unexpected end.

Paparella slugged a three run homer in the top of the eighth inning to snap a 5-5 deadlock and tie the series, 1-1.

Paparella’s blast highlighted a six-run outburst. Three batters later Luke Mutz followed with a two run double. Tommy Jacobs then doubled Mutz home for an 11-6 advantage. Nate Sides fanned three of the four batters he faced to secure the victory.

Paparella went 3-for-6 with five RBIs and one run scored. Alden Mathes was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Sides finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

TheBlack Sox rallied from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game and force extra innings for the second straight day. Bill Ford’s two-out RBI double in the fifth inning cut the deficit to 5-2. Marple Newtown tallied three more times in the sixth inning to tie the game. Jack O’Reilly singled in Andrew Smith. Corey Woodcock lofted a sacrifice fly to bring O’Reilly home and Tom Carey reached on an error to chase home David Judge with the equalizer.

Smith went 3-forf-4 with a solo homer and with two runs scored and one RBI.
