Judge and Margolis deliver for Black Sox
from the Daily Times posted 8/9/2020
Wayne’s only loss of the season came back on July 8. Since then, the defending Delco League champions put together a 15-game unbeaten streak.
David Judge and Owen Margolis teamed up Saturday to help the Marple Newtown Black Sox bring that streak to an end.
Judge ripped a two-out double in the top of the eighth inning and Margolis made that hit stand up in a 4-2 victory at Devon Prep that gave the Black Sox a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 semifinal series.
Game 2 is Sunday afternoon (1 p.m.) at Marple Newtown.
Judge’s double snapped a 2-2 tie. Margolis pitched the final three innings in relief of starter Steve DiStefano to get the win. Owens did not allow a hit and struck out four. He retired the side in order in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the win. C.J. Costales had two hits for Marple Newtown.
Luke Mutz hit a two-run homer and Ed Paparella went 2-for-3 to lead Wayne.
