from the Daily Times posted 8/7/2020

Springfield pitcher Joe Samohod settled down after a shaky start as his offense overcame a four-run deficit to beat Upper Darby, 5-4, in Game 2 of a Delco League quarterfinal playoff series.

The No. 3 Colonials swept the best-of-three series and will take on second-seeded Narberth in the semifinals.

Samohod allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits and struck out one over four innings to get the win. Springfield trailed 4-0 but scored one in the third and four in the bottom of the fourth to go in front. Cole Palis had the go-ahead RBI single. Luke Piontek and Brendan Riccardi also delivered run-scoring singles.

Dan Ouimette and Nick Brauer combined for three shutout innings of relief.

Christian Strickland paced the No. 6 Blue Sox with a double and three RBIs.
