Chester 2, Narberth 1

Chester ousts defending Delco champ Narberth

From the Daily Times posted 7/28/2019

There will be a new Delco League champion in 2019.

Chester, the fifth seed, ended Narberth’s reign with a pair of two-out RBI hits and the stellar pitching of Calen Reigner for a 2-1 win Saturday, sweeping the best-of-3 opening-round series.

Alex Barker scored twice, driven home by Pat Campbell’s single in the fourth inning and Langston Livingston’s double in the sixth, both with two outs. That was enough for Reigner, who scattered two hits and four walks.

He used the stellar defense of Campbell and Joe Cautillo on the left side of the infield to silence the fourth-seeded Mudcats’ bats.

Narberth struck in the top of the fourth, Ian Diaz scoring on Richie Tecco’s sac fly. Toby MacCart kept Narberth close with five strong innings, allowing two hits (both in the fourth) and striking out six.
