Reynolds's Walk-Off Gives Marple Newtown Victory Over Narberth


Marple Newtown defeated Narberth 8-7 on Saturday thanks to a walk-off double. The Black Sox trailed 7-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Brian Reynolds doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Marple Newtown collected 13 hits and Narberth had ten.

In the second inning, Narberth Mudcats got their offense started when Steve DeBarberie hit a solo homer.

Marple Newtown notched three runs in the seventh inning. Black Sox batters contributing to the big inning included Luke Turner, Corey Woodcock, and CJ Costales, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Narberth scored three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Narberth Mudcats was led by Mike Coleman, Spencer Stokes, and DeBarberie, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Brian Gross earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Marple Newtow. He allowed one hit and one run over two-thirds of an inning, walking one. Woodcock threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Pat Vanderslice took the loss for the Mudcats. He went two innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out two.

Marple Newtown Black Sox tallied 13 hits on the day. Woodcock, Turner, Tom Carey, Reynolds, and Gio Morales all managed multiple hits for Marple Newtown Black Sox. Woodcock went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Marple Newtown Black Sox in hits.

Narberth Mudcats racked up ten hits on the day. Coleman and DeBarberie each collected multiple hits for Narberth Mudcats.
