Marple Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning For Victory Over Upper Darby 


Marple Newtown Black Sox defeated Upper Darby Blue Sox 7-5 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four with Marple Newtown Black Sox batting in the top of the seventh when Tom Carey homered on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.

Marple Newtown got on the board in the first inning when Carey singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Marple tied things up at four. Brian Reynolds homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Danny Kelleher took the win for the Black Sox. He lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out six.

Johnny Gonzalez took the loss for Upper Darby Blue Sox. He went six innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking one.

Marple totaled 11 hits. Liam Bendo, Carey, Reynolds, and Geo Morales all had multiple hits for Marple Newtown Black Sox. Bendo went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Black Sox in hits.

Upper Darby had nine hits in the game. Tyler Oshea, Noah White, and Len Montano all managed multiple hits for Upper Darby Blue Sox.  Oshea led the Blue Sox with three hits in three at bats.
