Concord 6, Aston Valley 5

from the daily times POSTED:

Two bombs, timely hitting and a bad case of poison ivy defined Concord’s 6-5 win over Aston Valley.

Behind the plate, catcher John Convery, now known as “Poison Ivy” Convery, played with bad rashes on his face and arms; his eyes nearly swollen shut. It didn’t stop him from going 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored. He was outdone at the dish, however, by teammates Nate Sides and Frank Saviski. Each had a home run, with Saviski’s coming in the bottom of the sixth inning. That proved to be the winning runs. Saviski pitched the final inning plus for the win, relieving starter Ben Faso.
